Signalling for help I
Waving for help
While it is not the official hand signal for rescue, waving your arm
up and down frantically would most likely send the appropriate message to the rescue aircraft, rescue teams or people that you are in need of help. It would be appropriate that your face have a look of anxious look instead of laughing which others might mistake as a friendly wave.
The appropriate way of signalling is actually to Stand up and raising arms over the head to indicate: “I want to be picked up.”
Lie down on ground with arms stretched over the head means: “Require medical assistance.”
Below are the international signals used by both the military and civilians for rescue.
