Signalling is the most important thing to know when you are lost and needs to draw the attention of potential rescuers to you. Highlighted here are some basic signalling techniques for use in an emergency.

Waving for help                                                                                            While it is not the official hand signal for rescue, waving your arm up and down frantically would most likely send the appropriate message to  the rescue  aircraft,  rescue teams or people that you are in need of help.

Signalling on the ground                                                                     When you are lost or/and injured, it might be best to stay  in a location  for rescuers to find you. Make a ‘X’ or ‘SOS’ or  ‘HELP’ sign on the ground  to draw the attention of passing  aircraft to your location.
